The Irwin Bridge to New Salem; plan on a morning of 4+ hours to leisurly paddle along the river that Lincoln loved.

We tend to see plenty of Great Blue Heron and Eagles as well as, kingfishers, woodpeckers and many more wonderful birds. We love to stop along the sandbars and see how Mother Nature has changed them with her waters.

We will meet at New Salem Boat Launching area at 8:30 a.m. where we will shuttle to Irwin Bridge and take off for what should be a beautiful morning paddle.

If water levels are too high for the Sangamon we plan on a trip to a calmer body of water. We will email those who have reserved to give our alternate plans.

This is a guided trip and we have set aside only a few boats from our rental service. Therefore, reservations are necessary by 5 p.m. the evening before the trip.

$45 per person includes guide, boats, pfd's, paddling instruction. Snacks and water provided at no cost.
